As soon as the Forbidden City opened we headed inside.  The Forbidden City is huge, it would take us a long time to investigate it properly. 

It was still very hot and hazy.  One thing about the Forbidden City (and many of China's monuments) is that they don't look old.  It's because the buildings are made of wood rather than stone (as used for important building in the west).  The buildings burn down, rot or are otherwise destroyed and are simply replaced with other wooden buildings.
