Most Indian monuments are guarded by licensed bandits (sorry, tour guides)
who get most offended when you decline their services and Humayan's Tomb was no
different. Humayan's Tomb was erected in the middle of the 16th century by the wife of the Mogul emperor Humayun, this tomb launched a new architectural era that culminated in the Mogul masterpieces in Agra and Fatehpur Sikri. Reminiscent of Persian architecture, this exquisite structure of red sandstone and white marble rests on a raised podium amid gardens intersected by water channels and enclosed by walls. |
